Hi,
Is there anyway that I can overwrite backups using sweep?

I'm backing up to a disk that's cycled with 2 others and I only need to keep the most recently backed up data.

Many thanks

Hi,

Assuming the Backup Destination is always the same, LojiklSweep will always over write the files in that location, assuming they have changed from Source to Destination.

If you would like LojiklSweep to remove files from the existing Backup that no longer exist in the Source, then use the 'Clean Existing Backup' option in the Schedule->Destination screen.

Cheers.

Hi,
Many thanks for your post.
So are you saying if the file being backed up is modfied to the one previously backedup it will be over written?

If not the file will not be copied? I tried that and it errors with destination file already exists!

I am backuing up to the same device just keeping the most upto date.
I also assume that you shouldn't have any apppends to the dir i.e. time and date stamp.
Cheers

You may get that error if for some reason LojiklSweep cannot delete the file that it is trying to overwrite.

Would you be able to manually check the attributes/permisson of the file it complains about.

Basically if the file in the destination has a different size, attributes or modified date, then it will be overwritten.
