I run a daily backup every night on my laptop. When I look at the history, it sometimes shows a "balloon" with an "i" inside and sometimes shows a small red "stop" sign. When the "stop"sign shows, the report seems to show that the backup was completed but that there was one "fatal" error. The last few lines of the report are:

Creating Volume Shadow Snapshot for C:
Created Volume Shadow Snapshot for \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1
Saved Sweep Index File as E:\SweepIndex.lsi
Exception from HRESULT: 0x80042308
Backing up Registry Entries...
Executing 'After' Processes
Saving History and Generating Reports

What does "Exception from HRESULT: 0x80042308 " mean? Is the backup really being completed?

Hi

Your backup is correctly completing (sort of), you can confirm this by checking the number of file Processed, Skipped etc.

Whats is happening is LojiklSweep found files it could not copy, i.e Outlook Mail files. It has tried to invoke a special type of copy and has failed, which is quite common for these files.

So the Error is marked as Fatal because it could not copy one of the files. Technically it should be possible to copy these types of files, however that is not always the reality. We are working on it.

In the meantime, try shutting down the application (i.e Outlook) that is using the files that can't be copied.

Cheers
