When I select folders in "My Network Places", and run a test or back up, it takes 2 seconds and doesn't capture any of the files selected.

The 'My Network Places' is actually just a folder of link files. LojiklSweep will be backing up the links, which is obviously not what you want. In order to include these locations (i.e My Network Places\My Photos on My Server\Family) you would have to navigate deeper in the My Networks places folder and put the check mark on the "Family" folder rather than the " My Photos on My Server" folder.
